Roundtable Discussion on “Skill Development and Education in Mining” held on Saturday 13th June, 2015 at Hotel Landmark, Ahmedabad
International Centre of Excellence in Mining Safety and Automation (iCEM) in association with Mining Engineers Association of India (MEAI), organized a Round Table Discussion on “Skill Development and Education in Mining” at Hotel Planet Landmark on 13th June 2015. Approximately 50 participants attended the Roundtable including Mining Experts and Support Executives.
The objectives behind conducting this Roundtable were:
- To gather mining experts under one roof and have their valuable suggestion and recommendation regarding Skill Development and Education in Mining.
- To provide an interactive platform for constructive discussion between academicians, mining professionals, Industry representatives, and national level leading contractors.
- To identify problems related to Mining industry Training and Skill Development Activities in India and their proposed solutions.
International Centre of Excellence in Mining Safety and Automation (iCEM) is an initiative of the Govt. of Gujarat (GoG) and is being established at Dev Dholera village in the district of Ahmedabad, Gujarat (India). iCEM has been envisaged to be developed as International Centre of Excellence for Mining industry and will focus on Skill Development and Corporate Training, Demonstration of Technology and Best Practices, Education and Training, Research and Development, Incubation and Entrepreneurship in Mining and Mineral Sector.
A Two days National Seminar on “The Need for Technological Development and Reforms in Mining Sector”, was organized by Mining Engineers Association of India (MEAI) on 13th June and 14th June, 2015 at Ahmedabad. A large number of Mining experts had gathered to participate in it. So this was a good opportunity for the centre to gather these mining experts for a session of interaction on Skill Development and Education in Mining.
