5 Days Training Program On “Upskilling of Dumper Operator” Held at GMDC Lignite Project, Rajpardi | April 26-30, 2016

Considering the need and urgency for Skilling/Upskilling and recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) of the workforce engaged in the mining sector and certification of them in line with new and relevant policy and guidelines of Government of India (GoI), as well as to develop a pool of skilled workforce for statutory and non-statutory positions that could be available for working in mining sector and further to contribute towards enhancement of production and productivity of mining sector as whole; iCEM, in association with Skill Council for Mining Sector (SCMS) has introduced numerous of Skill Development Programs for Skilling/Upskilling of mining manpower. Mainly it includes –

1) Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – for Existing Operators

2) Training – for Fresh Candidates

Under the above training programs, the participants would be given an exposure of Skilling/Upskilling on various job roles of mining sector. There are various types of course modules for Skilling & Upskilling of mining manpower based on approved Qualification Packs (QPs) and National Occupation Standards (NOSs).

At present, iCEM has introduced Skill Development Program on ‘Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)’ for existing manpower of GMDC and its contractors’ staff. Training Programs for ‘Fresh Candidates’ would be introduce very soon at iCEM. In Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), the existing mining sector workforce (skilled operators so far lacking any certification on their prior learning) will undergo pre-assessment, training by SCMS authorized training partner on approved QPs and NOSs, followed by an assessment, and then certification by SCMS.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY

Skill Development Training Programs in association with SCMS; the role SCMS is to provide accredited training partners and assessors to iCEM. In the existing mode of operandi, SCMS recommended ‘Mosaic Network (India) Pvt. Ltd. (Mosaic)’ as a leading training provider and one of the most competent training organization empanelled with SCMS for trainings of mining sector in Gujarat state. The training methodology is aligned to NSQF (National Skill

Qualification Framework) which not only Up-skills the trainees through classroom and practical trainings but also provides them nationwide recognized certificates.
